Welcome to my brand new website.
My name is Nyai Hasanah. An Indonesian living in Japan. A language learner turned a language tutor.
When I first landed in Japan, some 20 years ago, I started a personal blog in Bahasa Indonesia, mostly from being homesick. Then I started learning Japanese while trying to adjust to my new life. Not only the language, I also learned the culture, and started new hobbies, like cooking and baking, gardening, and even pottery making!
But one thing I enjoy the most is learning the language. It taught me how to overcome the obstacles of learning a second foreign language that has different writing system. The experience of learning Japanese gave me the motivation to learn other languages, like Arabic, Greek, and Latin.
While I gave up Greek and Latin, I somehow continue learning Arabic. And since 2018, I also started tutoring Bahasa Indonesia in Japanese.
So, I decided to start this new website for documenting my learning activities. Especially about my own experience learning a new language and my days as a language tutor.
